Cartlidge Levene move to Morelands.

Last weekend we completed the mammoth task of moving from our old studio in St John Street to a bright and airy new space at Morelands; an industrial building redeveloped and owned by one of our clients, Derwent London. Our new address is: Morelands, 5–23 Old Street, London EC1V 9HL. Our telephone number remains the same.

Design Museum select Cartlidge Levene’s poster for retrospective display.

The Design Museum is showing a selection of posters from their archive, designed since they opened at Butler's Wharf in 1989. Our poster for the 1992 exhibition 'A Festival of Scandinavian Design' has been chosen for display and can be currently seen in the Café on the Ground floor.

The Text Gallery invite Cartlidge Levene to contribute to Imaginary Menagerie, an exhibition celebrating the intricacies of language.

The Text Gallery in Bloomsbury, London curates collaborative projects inspired by the printed and written word. We were amongst 19 leading and emerging designers and studios in the UK and internationally invited to create a special piece for 'Imaginary Menagerie' an exhibition exploring 'language's difficult, tongue-tripping, unpronounceable labyrinths'. Drawing from Italian, Spanish, English, Russian and Chinese, the works exhibited take on a variety of forms: from letterpress and silk-screen prints, to light-based artworks and sculpture. We created a set of Möbius strip lamp shades with palindromic phrases running around their continuous surfaces, including 'NEVER ODD OR EVEN' and 'TOO HOT TO HOOT'.

Cartlidge Levene win two awards at the 2011 ISTD International TypoGraphic Awards.

We won two awards at the 2011 ISTD International TypoGraphic Awards: a Premier Award for interpretation graphics and gallery identity at the V&A Ceramics Gallery and a Certificate of Excellence for our identity for Stanton Williams architects. The ISTD catalogue explains: 'Premier Awards are awarded to designers of outstanding submissions, they are offered for work that has not only met the criteria for the award of a Certificate of Excellence, but which is also considered outstanding by a majority of the jurors'.

Referring to the V&A Ceramics Gallery, juror Tom Hingston commented: "This is an example of a really strong, yet simple identity for the gallery space. It establishes order and structure to the viewing of the collection - but without becoming too dominant. Elegantly crafted and well executed".

Bristol Museum & Art Gallery wayfinding and signage wins a D&AD Yellow Pencil.

Our wayfinding and signage scheme for Bristol Museum & Art Gallery has won a prestigious Yellow Pencil at the 2011 D&AD Awards. D&AD celebrates and nurtures outstanding work in design and advertising and the D&AD Yellow Pencil is recognised the world over as a symbol of the very highest creative achievement. D&AD says "Work that is outstanding, rather than merely brilliant, wins a Yellow Pencil".

Cartlidge Levene design poster for exhibition to mark the launch of Nokia’s new typeface.

We were amongst several leading designers invited to design a poster for NokiaPure, an exhibition to celebrate the launch of Nokia’s new typeface. The brief was to reflect the design foundations of NokiaPure which are built on the roots of great Finnish design. The posters were produced in an edition of 20 and exhibited at an exhibition in Shoreditch, London where they were sold to raise money for the British Dyslexia Association.

Tate Modern appoint Cartlidge Levene and Studio Myerscough as wayfinding and signage consultants for the new extension.

The scheme will see the conversion of the former Bankside Power Station Oil Tanks into vast, cylindrical galleries and the addition of an eleven storey extension by architects Herzog & de Meuron. Alterations will be made to the existing building and the wayfinding project will reinforce the connectivity between the two buildings.

Tate Modern is the most visited museum of modern art in the world with more than 45 million visitors since it opened in 2000. The original scheme was designed for 1.8 million visitors annually but it quickly reached an average of 4.6 million. The Oil Tanks and the extension will therefore provide much needed additional space for art displays and social spaces. Cartlidge Levene and Stanton Williams architects collaborate on a major renovation of Musée des Beaux-arts de Nantes.

We were part of Stanton Williams architects successful competition entry for the refurbishment and extension of the Musée des Beaux-arts de Nantes, France. The museum houses one of the most important collections of art outside of Paris. We will work closely with Stanton Williams to design the wayfinding and exhibition graphics for the restored museum and the new extension. The project will see the historic museum, which dates from 1900, improved and restored and the addition of a new extension to house the growing 21st century art collection. The project is due for completion in 2013.
